December 2006

Christmas came early for Dorset Road Allotments and Leisure Gardens Society this year.  A generous grant from the Lottery's AWARDS FOR ALL will enable them to establish a new wildlife garden on their site adjacent to Churchfields School (near Elmers End).  Not only will the wildlife that includes kingfishers slow worms and bats have new purpose-built homes, but local school children will have access to hands-on environmental education lessons learning about the natural world.

The money will also be used to improve drainage on the site to make more plots available for their ever-growing waiting list of local people who want a healthier lifestyle by growing their own vegetables.
