From Thoughts in a Garden

     What wondrous life is this I lead!

Ripe apples drop about my head;

The luscious clusters of the vine

Upon my mouth do crush their wine;

The nectarine and curious peach

Into my hands themselves do reach;

Stumbling on melons, as I pass,

Ensnared with flowers I fall on grass.

 

    Meanwhile the mind from pleasureless

Withdraws into its happiness;

The mind; that Ocean where each kind

Does straight its own resemblance find;

Yet it creates, transcending these,

For other worlds, and other seas;

Annihilating all that’s made

To a green thought in a green shade.

To ensure appropriate use and upkeep of the allotment site and its ‘plots’ Chris and Tom, committee members, will carry out monthly inspections.

The Club House roof is to be renewed/repaired in the near future, HELP is needed – please contact Peter or any committee member. HELP is also needed to clean and clear the riverbank.

Do you have surplus produce? Why not donate it to the Site Shop to be sold in aid of allotment funds – the last Sunday of the month.

The old warrior reined his grey steed to a stop beneath the tree of sadness. It was here, when he was simply handsome Harry, that he had parted from his hearts delight sweet Sally. A boy’s love had lasted a lifetime for him. Though Sally had long slept in the ground her memory remained sweet after death. The chain of love that bound him to her could not be broken by time or death.

Now he would join her. As the golden rain fell on the old man’s whiskers he dismounted for the last time. Now he would join his sweetheart for evermore.
