The Society

We are one of about 50 allotment and leisure garden sites in the London Borough of Bromley.  As with the other sites we (the allotment holders) have formed an association (the Dorset Road Allotments and Leisure Gardens Society) to manage the site on behalf of the Council.  We lease the 7.5 acres site from the council.

We are managed by a committee of nine officers who are elected at our Annual General Meetings held in April each year.

The aims of our Society are:

- to promote the growing of fruit and vegetables as an aid to a healthy lifestyle

- to promote recycling of waste material

- to protect wildlife and where possible provide suitable habitat

- to provide educational facilities for the local community.

The primary use of our plots is to provide fresh home grown vegetables. But many of our plotholders also grow flowers or soft fruits, some keep bees to produce honey, or hens to produce eggs.
